The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) is dedicated to improving the mental health of individuals, families, and groups around the world by setting the standard of excellence in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning, also known as horse therapy or equine therapy.

Founded in July 1999, EAGALA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization developed to address the need for resources, education, and professionalism in EAP and EAL.

EAGALA has over 3,500 members in 40 countries.

By providing a standard, structure, and resources for it’s members it ensures that EAP and EAL sessions are being provided by trained professionals in a safe environment.

Practicing within the EAGALA model establishes a foundation of key values and beliefs.

We adhere to a Code of Ethics and follow a standard of professionalism.

We utilize a Team Approach were an Equine Specialist, a Mental Health Specialist, and horse(s) work together with clients in every session.

Our focus is on the ground with no riding involved. This means that no horse experience is necessary to be involved with this type of therapy. Also, this takes reduces the fear and anxiety that some may feel when interacting with horses.

The belief that our clients have the best solutions for themselves forms a foundation for the EAGALA approach. Rather than instructing or directing solutions, we allow our clients to experiment, problem-solve, take risks, employ creativity, and find their own solutions that work best for them.

It is important to us that we follow the EAGALA model, maintain professionalism, continually educate ourselves, and provide the best experience for our clients.
